Local AI models

Running AI models on your Mac is great until you notice each one takes 4 to 20 GB, and you downloaded a few just to try them.

Where they hide

  • Ollama: ~/.ollama/models
  • Hugging Face: ~/.cache/huggingface
  • LM Studio: ~/.lmstudio/models

How Roomy handles them

Models are never removed automatically, since downloading them again can take a long time. Roomy lists them under “Review first” so you can remove the ones you no longer use.

For Ollama you can also remove a single model with ollama rm followed by the model name.
