How to see folder sizes on a Mac
Finder doesn’t show folder sizes by default. Here are four ways to find out what’s big.

In Finder
- Open a Finder window and switch to List view (View, as List).
- Choose View, Show View Options.
- Turn on “Calculate all sizes”.
- Click the Size column header to sort by size.
With Get Info
Select a folder and press Command-I. The Info window shows its size, which can take a moment for big folders.
In Storage settings
System Settings, General, Storage breaks your disk into categories and lists the largest files in Documents.
In Terminal
This lists everything in your home folder from smallest to largest:
du -sh ~/* | sort -hAs a map
Roomy draws your whole home folder as tiles sized by space, so the biggest things stand out immediately, and you can click into any folder.
